My magazine has a large target audience so this would mean that I would have to go with a big national company in order for them to support and distribute my magazine. However this could lead for them to have more editorial control for my magazine, but the company would give me support to make my magazine known. Bauer is a large company but because they own Kerrang they wouldn’t want to own ‘IMPACT’ this is why I would choose to go with NME publishers who are ipc but ipc itself is own by Timewarner. The advantages of going with a large company would be to support my magazine financially. This would allow the magazine more time to establish itself in the marketplace. If I wasn’t with a large company I wouldn’t have the support to keep my magazine running so therefore a large company is a good thing for a new magazine because it’s a good start and can offer continual support as the audience grows.
